The Death of a Great Dictator?

¡Que Lastima! That’s sarcastic of course but looks like what Castro in the photo attached might be exclaiming of his own death. But should the world share that opinion? Many will grieve. I won’t be one of them.

Castro is Dead
Que Lastima

This article begins, “Fidel Castro, who led his bearded rebels to victorious revolution in 1959, embraced Soviet-style communism and defied the power of 10 U.S. presidents during his half-century of rule in Cuba, has died at age 90.”

Castro had an impact in his early days, that I won’t deny, but for most of those reading this he meant next to nothing. He was just the guy who kept people from enjoying a nice island, good cigars, and the next Ricky Ricardo. He ran a crap hole of a country that people fled all the time. His idea of prosperity was a rice cooker in every home but the rice be damned.

In one of the few things Obama got right he began to open diplomatic relations with Cuba and that’s a good thing. Now that Castro is dead there’s a chance things could change for the people who live there. They’ve spent 50 years in what basically amounts to a time capsule. An influx of freedom and US tourist dollars is just the thing they need to finally move them forward.
