Orwell wrote, “One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship.”
It’s very hard to understand how someone who isn’t an actual family member of Castro could mourn his passing. He represents a perfect example of what Orwell was talking about. He rebelled against Batista, against one dictator, to just become a dictator himself. Somehow the only thing the leftists seem to remember about Castro is that he was a rebel.
Why is Black Lives Matter so sad? They wrote, “Although no leader is without their flaws, we must push back against the rhetoric of the right and come to the defense of El Comandante…” Sounds like it has less to do with how wonderful Castro is and more to do with who it is bad mouthing him. They must excuse his flaws, which admits he has them. An intellectually honest assessment of those flaws brings any sane person to see how terrible Castro was (a joy to use the past tense). Then they clearly indicate that it’s the right they are pushing back against.
It’s not about Castro, it’s about left vs right. Think about how bent a person’s mind has to be to support someone so grotesque just because an opposing group opposes him. It’s like eating poo just because your mom tells you not to.
The movement posted said they felt an ‘overwhelming sense of loss’ of the death of the controversial former Cuban leader on Friday.
