Yes, this is a nonfiction book on American history and for some that may sound boring right off. But I am telling you that it does not read like nonfiction. Unless you have been a student of American history in detail I promise you will read this with a “holy cow” look on your face and utter at least once “I had no idea that happened”. I’ve read a lot of American history and I still found myself in the position.
The read is fast, you will want to know what happens next, and you will feel like you know the people involved.
“In this masterful book, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence—when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.
Based on extensive research in both American and British archives, 1776 is a powerful drama written with extraordinary narrative vitality.”
